At Lighting Partners London, we are passionate about staying ahead of the curve when it comes to lighting technology. Right now is a great time to be involved with the built environment as emerging technologies and new research findings reveal myriad opportunities to improve people’s lives with lighting. Additionally, the current emphasis on improving workplace well-being means that end users are demanding more from their environment thus driving innovation in all areas of workplace design. Here are 3 of our current and future innovative products.
1. Infinite Choice At Your Fingertips – Advanced Colour Programmable Bluetooth Technology
We have a range of Bluetooth Smart1 What is Bluetooth Smart? Bluetooth SIG, Inc. 2016 controlled luminaires capable of providing multiple white and RGB light colours. Rather than the usual 3 or 4 channels we use 6 control channels. This includes a cool white and a warm white LED combined with an amber and red LED which enables white light ranging from 1800K to 4000K, with a Colour Rendering Index (CRI) of up to 97. The additional green and blue allow any combination on the RGB spectrum.
The luminaire is controlled via apps available for both iOS and Android which uses Bluetooth low energy to communicate. This allows complete flexibility of light for whatever mood or occasion at the swipe of a finger!
2. Evolutionary Light – Human Centric Lighting (HCL)
HCL is lighting designed to improve the biological, emotional, health, or well-being of people. Following the discovery of a new photo-receptor in the eye involved in non-visual responses to light2Foster and Hankins, Non-rod, non-cone photoreception in the vertebrates, Progress in Retinal and Eye Research, Volume 21, Issue 6, November 2002, Pages 507–527 (most significantly the synchronisation of circadian rhythms to the natural light cycle) there is now conclusive evidence of the potential of light to enhance performance, health, and well-being.
Due to the eye’s sensitivity to certain wavelengths of light, it is possible to influence the production of certain hormones involved in our everyday physiological processes by controlling the type of light, and the time that it’s administered. Lighting Partners London currently supply first generation HCL which follows the light cycle of the sun throughout the day, mimicking the changes in colour composition to provide a more natural light. However, we are currently working on second generation HCL which promises to provide many more health, performance, and well-being benefits as well as increased personalisation to meet the individual needs of the user. Stay tuned for more information.
3. Miniaturisation – Great performance from smaller fittings
Technological advances in component manufacturing means that it is now possible to create smaller luminaires with the same performance of their larger predecessors – in essence doing more with less. This makes the individual luminaires more discrete, allowing greater flexibility when installation since they fit in smaller spaces. Also, by reducing the clutter, this improvement further distills lighting to its primary role of illumination, giving greater freedom to focus on other aspects of the interior.
Available in square and circular fixed versions which use a 35mm diameter hole and a circular directional variant needing a 50mm hole, all come complete with a compact driver that can pass through the fixing hole.
